I got 167 in written and 70.84 total. I attended interview in Trivandrum, Kerala.
Panel consisted of 4 , all males.
Main panelist checked my career records, cleared some doubts and started off.
Asked me what is the function of a bank – To take savings from people and give as loans to entrepreneurs to invest in productive purposes.
He further asked me how banks help in growth of the country – Because the savings of people are invested in productive purposes, which was otherwise unproductive, if not put in bank. When entrepreneurs invest and get profit, this profit is further invested.. this goes on resulting in growth of the country.
Question – What are the qualities needed for a bank officer ?
What is sub-prime crisis ?
What is the regulatory agency for insurance in India ? – IRDA
Then another panelist asked me to describe about Kerala. After I gave him some explanation, he asked me how various religions are regionally dispersed in Kerala – for that I gave satisfactory replies
He asked my hobbies – reading, watching TV
The last panelist asked me about the significance of my name and asked me my favourite author (since i told my hobby as reading). You must be prepared to answer specific questions on your hobby – So be prepared
Then he asked me about various terms I used in my previous anwers, like ‘diaspora’. The key is to speak out only those things which you are fairly confident of. Otherwise you may be trapped.
If you are a little careful, you yourself can guide the track of the interview through your answers.
Keep thinking positive, even if you dont know some answers or you were not able to articulate properly. Have some general awareness.
It’s OK to follow good interview etiquette’s. But dont follow them so hard and fast that you yourselves are lost. Being yourselves confident and upbeat is far more important .
I am a clerk at Indian Overseas Bank (PSB). I attended PO/MT interview on 24 Jan 2013, and produced all the certificate except No Objection Certificate (NOC). I have obtained the NOC today (7 Feb 2013) . The IBPS website has no instructions to the subsequent formalities of sending the NOC. Please be kind enough to guide me.

THIS IS MY EXPERIENCE OF IBPS COMMON INETRVIEW HELD AT AJMER ON 19TH JAN 2013:
During Document verification, I had shown experience supported by latest salary slip from present employer and its initial joining letter. They asked me for NOC. I explained them that I am in a private firm and they wont issue me a NOC. They agreed and document verification was complete. All the Docs were ok and as per requirement.
At my turn, I entered the room after seeking the entry permission. M1 offered me to sit. I sat thankfully.
M1: (Looking at my salary slip) Your present employer is giving you a handsome salary then why do you want to leave your present organisation?
Me: sir, my ambition to join banking service…… then I explained the drawbacks which I face with my present employer (without discriminating organisation). I explained them scope in present employer with respect to my education qualification.
M1: Ok Mr Chaudhary, What does ur father do?
Me: sir, he is an agriculturist, basically involved in farming and cattle rearing.
M1: so you are from rural background, (he then asked M2 to ask since I was from rural background)
M2: What crops are sown presently in your field?
Me: Sir, presently Rabi crops Viz. Mustard, Castor, Jeera are sown.
M2: ok, What is the yield that you get from these crops?
Me: We get normally 7-8 quintals of mustard per Bheega, sir.
M2: Are you sure? That sounds too much.
Me: Yes sir, actually the land is very fertile and ground water level is much above and to aour fortune it is one of the good quality of waters in rajasthan.
M2: Ok. Mahesh tell me who is present agriculture minister in Unoin cabinet.
Me: Sir, Mr sharad pawar
M2: Ok and who is State Finance minister in centre?
Me: Sir,Hri Namo narayan Meena (Meenaji is from Rajasthan, that is why he might have asked that question)
M2: what is his recent contribution?
Me: I have no idea sir.
M2: Ok , actually he has voiced for opening new rural bank branches.
M2: aspart from farming what are other sectors in agriculture?
Me: Sir, poultry farming,
M2: what else?
Me: Sir, i don’t remember.
M2: ok Have you herd about Piggery, fisheries,etc
Me: yes sir (He then explained me those terms, I thanked him, he smiled)
M1: Ok mr Mahesh, What is ypur score in written?
Me: sir I have secured 146.
M1: Ok Mahesh, Than you.
I thanked all the members and left the room.
So friends tell me how was my interview? What are my chances. I fall in OBC category.

P3 : Are you working?
Me : No Sir. I am not working right now. But I had been working sir.

Me: In TCS sir .
P2: Which place ?
Me : Sir Chennai.
P3 : (A surprised expression on the face).Do you know about the position of TCS in IT field?
Me: Yes sir
P3 : Tell me what is TCS ranking ?
Me : It’s the number one in India Sir.
P3 : Then why did u leave TCS ?
Me : Sir, To be honest the decision to quit TCS was one of the most difficult decisions taken by ever.I will always be thankful to TCS for providing me an opportunity to work with them. Sir …But I think that my decision to quit TCS was in a beneficial to TCS as well as for me because I wasn’t enjoying the work I was doing. It was a monotonously regular work. Growth was confined in terms of salary . There were not enough opportunities for growth in terms of learning. (Here P3 interrupts !!)
P3 : Didn’t you think about future prospects . I meant your position after 30 years ? You won’t be the same. Don’t you think you would be in a bigger and better position?
Me : Of course yes sir! Sir, there were people working with me who were 5 years and 10-12 years experienced. I understood that when a person gets promoted from one post to higher post there would be more people and groups added under him but the work what he does remains the same and knowledge level too remains pretty same. That’s not what I want from a job sir.
P3 : What do you know about banking ?
Me : Sir , a Bank is a financial intermediary which accepts deposits and channelizes these deposits into lending activities. The essential role of a bank is to connect people who HAVE capital to people who SEEK capital. The banking today has grown beyond traditional banking concept. It builds homes through home loans, builds career through educational loans,it serves as a backbone for our economy by providing means of capital infusion, it is also a backbone to the corporate sectors.
P2 : So doesn’t this traditional banking involve giving loans to people ?
Me : ( I was a bit perplexed here. In a split of a second I realised that I was trapped by an idiotic statement made by me in my previous answer) Sir , I didn’t mean that …I meant its work not just
involve giving interest to people who deposit their surplus money in banks ( I know this is totally worthless and non-related answer .But I had to tell something. At this point P3 saved me instantly interrupting)
P3 : What do you know about priority sectors ?
Me : Sir , Priority sectors include agriculture and small scale industries which are the backbones of our economy. Our government insists that 40% of the total credit provided by our banks should be provided to these priority sectors.
P2 : What would happen if these sectors do not receive enough credit ?
Me: To tell about this I would like to mention something about pre-nationalisation days.
P2 : Yes , carry on
Me : Sir during pre-nationalisation days most of the banks were with private people or business groups. And mostly these were located in urban areas and the rural areas were largely unbanked. And these banks were reluctant towards providing credit to agriculture and small scale industries. To remove these anomalies banks were nationalised.so it is very clear from this that government gives much importance for the growth of these sectors .At this juncture we should understand the fact that 70% of the total labour of our country works in these sectors and growth in these sectors only would enable our economy to grow steadily.
P3 : What are latest technologies in banking domain?
Me : Sir the most important development is the Core banking solution. And to go by date the Cheque Truncation System is the most recent development
P3 : Does TCS develop any Core Banking solutions?
Me : Yes Sir. Its TCS B@nCs. Sir, It is not developed by TCS. It is developed by an Australian firm called the Info Network Solutions. TCS had tied up with info network solution and is implementing it in india.
P4 : Has TCS acquired the Australian company ?
Me : No Sir. TCS has only tie-ups with them
P4: Ok
P4 : Have heard about FDI ? What is it?
Me : Sir , FDI is an acronym for Foreign Direct Investment. As the name suggests it’s the investment of foreign entity in India. It may be acquiring a physical asset in our country by a foreign entity or diversifying and expanding the already functioning business .
P4 : Ok. What is that is related to single brand and multi brand ? Govt has done something .what is it ?
Me : Sir , Govt. has removed the investment cap in single brand and has allowed 100% FDI and in multi brand the cap has been increased to 51%
P4 : Can you tell something about the impact of FDI on our economy ?
Me : Sir , I think it actually is a double sided sword
P4 : EXACTLY !!! ( This really boosted my confidence)
Me : There arguments in favour and against FDI. Favouring arguments are : It will bring in fresh capital to our economy , it will improve our forex positions, there will be competition in domestic market and hence efficiency would improve. The argument against are prominent regarding the middlemen issue. At this juncture I would like to tell about something that has happened in Uttar Pradesh. The women agriculture producers in collaboration with Bharati-Walmart opened up an retail outlet named “Sunhara-Walmart”. By this the Bharati-Wallmart would purchase directly from the producers for a better price. But now the producers complain that Walmart purchases only 20% of their produce and for selling the remaining 80% they have to succumb again to these middlemen. An unofficial talk with one of those walmart person revealed that as these retail giants are mainly profit seekers they get these produces for cheap prices from these so called middlemen than purchasing directly from the farmers. So government should take enough precautionary measures and regulations so that FDI may have a fruitful impact on our economy

P1 : What is contingency planning ?
Me : Sir , it is something like a back-up plan. It may be compared to Disaster Management.
P1 : (interrupting me) What is disaster management ?
Me : When disasters such as Earthquake, Tsunami occurs a planned action needs to be executed. People are trained in how to do ? what to do ?What action needs to be taken ? Its not only related to such natural disasters . These disasters may vary with each domain.
P1: Tell me in half a minute why should we select you ?
Me: Sir, I am an engineer. To go by definition engineer means “To place, manage and carryout tasks skilfully and artfully”. So engineering makes a person logical and mature enough to handle tasks assigned to him in skilfully .And the analytical skills and problem solving ability shown by engineers cannot be expected from other people.
P1 : So uptill now you were managing and dealing with machines .Do you think you can manage human resources?
Me : Sir , During my tenure in my college I was not only working with machines. I had gone through lots of stressful situations and learned a lot . And project which is a very important part requires management skills along with technical skills . We had a very short time to complete the project .We had to divide among us different topics. We had to work hard to complete each portion in the stipulated time .So all these requires management skills in abundance with technical skills.
P1 : Are you ready to work anywhere ?
Me : When bank supports me with all necessary amenities I am ready to work anywhere.

Dont worry at all… they dont bother much documentation if somebody empolyed in a private co/engagement…..when you got the final offer from any PSU bank. then you resign from there and give them your resignation …..no need to worry.. during my interviews they made it very clear that if anybody is working in pvt co.. they may or may not provide NOC. it not hamper their selection….so dont worry boss… just chill

my interview was on 22/01/2013, BOI noida. the panel consists of 2 sardar ji, 1 south indian & 1 north indian. the girl who went before me, they asked very tough questions to her regarding banking & acads so i was bit terrified when i entered the room. but to my surprise they were very pleasant to me, they askd meaning of my name saumya so i said gentle by looks & nature den dey askd is it so i said by nature yes & by looks others can decide better den they askd me abt my marks in 10th,12, graduation & mba which i told & they said very good. then they asked why we are seeing more no of girls candidates qualified for bank job these days? as i m already working they asked y u want to move from pvt sector 2 public sector, i replied dat also den dey askd abt chanda koccher & aftr dat south indian guy askd 3-4 questions related to baking, like role of rbi, wat are shg & thier role & then indian economy & rbi relation i explained dem all. at last they askd we have interviewed one more saumya 2dy & v r finding both of dem very smart so v r confused wat to do , dey askd me 2 suggest, den i said its upto your discretion sir wud if u giv me a chance i would say take both of us & smiled. dey all smiled on dis & said v r vry impressed by ur answer, god bless u n all d bst

My interview experience which was held on yesterday in Noida & it lasts hardly 10 mins.. I am B.Tech(IT) graduate and my score is 158 Gen Category. There were 4 members in my panel and all are male. 2 Sardar Ji,one from up background and last one is from my native place Uttarakhand.. whole interview was in hindi bcz they were asking in Hindi. Question which was being asked by them are as follows:
1. Tell me something about ur education & percentage?(They were delighted with my marks)
2. Where u have heard or seen something related to ur name & how would you know about it?
3. Why public sector not private sector?
4. What is prority sector?
5. What is lead bank?
6. Who is the new chairman of tata & with this ans little bit of conversation starts b/w me and up background person as I am defending or explaining my answer.
7. What is the name of rbi governor?
8. How are you updating yourself with current affairs?
9. Last uttarakhand man asked about my village name & asked one thing from yesterday news paper.
This is all I faced yesterday with full confidence & with a smile on my face & I had answered all question except newspaper question bcz I had left my home at sharp 6 A.M for interview and this thing I had told to them..

in notification it is said for gen cat only 4 attempts in 2010 i attempted 2 times as OBC candidate not as a gen cat and in 2011 i attempted 2 times as gen candidate now i am eligible to attempt as a gen candidate or not . i think after 2010 and 2011 no more notifications were released.

First of all, before going to the interview don’t be tensed and be calm and cool
As soon as i entered the room I wished them good evening(each and every one-4 memebs are there)…they asked me to sit down.
after taking a pause the 2nd person asked me just to talk about anything I wish to i.e., about my parents or family or friends or sonia gandhi or my favourite Movie actor.etc etc
So i thought for a moment and said that Firstly I wanted to introduce myself and then I want to speak about my family…and answered them.
first person asked me my strengths and weaknessess….Answered.
there arised more questions out of my weaknessess…answered them too.
Me being a female candidate..they asked me whether I am married or not….I said No…then they asked me how can i manage my career and marriage if i will be married…Answered this(they felt happy).
Finally they asked me to rate myself on my performance.
Wished me gud luck and gave me a toffee
they asked me my score too its 153…and the interview was very cool and calm. There were no questions on banking…there is only test for our attitude, personality and communication skills…So all the best Vizag candidates

My IBPS PO score is 148. my interview was on 19/1/13…Though I fall in OBC category and i have my OBC certificate. but not having the non creamy layer certificate. So, i have always applied in general category… But now, for making my OBC non creamy layer certificate (as required by Bank) work is given at native place, Kerala, (as my father was in kerala and now in Mumbai and I am born and brought up in Mumbai) if I get it before the final recruitment, can I submit it if i will be shortlisted for final recruitment. Please tell me can I get the benefit of OBC.

you should fill undertaking form…..because 149 is good for OBC

Is it mandatory that all the zerox documents are attested by gazzeted officer or other respectable person.
Plz reply as soon as possible
No need of attested copies by gazzeted officer. Carry xerox copies, there they will ask you to sign on each copy(i.e., self attested). But character certificate from 2 persons is mandatory & they will collect originals of these 2.
no need of attestation by gov official, u have to sign on all the xerox certificates
NO they r asking for self attested documents only….
Are they very particular about all the certificates because I don’t have some like character certificate.Plz reply soon.

3.ur voice should be clear to them.
4.n dont tell any thing fake.

Engineering is a graduation in professional field and gradutaion courses are tailored to make a person enough strong mentally and logically so that they can perform any task they are assinged to.So i dont feel it’ll harm in any way if a engineer works at a financial instituiton. And the second thing is that to make the right move at the right time i.e. right now banking sector is a grooming one so a lot to learn in this sector. bill gates said, “Buisiness and technology cannot be talked alone, if u r talking about buiness then u have to talk about technology or vice versa” like u r talking about fund transfer NEFT OR RTGS then its mandatory to talk about computer

i have one doubt . i have to attest my educational xerox copies with gazetted officer or not? i am confusing sir,
in call letter they mentioned like as
“one set of attested photocopies of required certificates should be attached to original bio -data form.
attestation with gazetted officer is must or not? plz tell me.

in call letter they are asking. in last 5 years where you have resided more than 1 year? what does it mean . i am stayed with my home for last 10 yaers i have to mention any thing int his column or not?

U hve to attest all the copies of certif. with a Gazatted officer.. fill all th coloumns. if u hve any doubt don’t worry ask them during th time of certificate verification.

yes there is passing criteria,n ur it exp didnt count..u have very less chance on these marks bur u give ur interview as better u can give.HOPE FOR THE BEST.N STAY POSITIVE.best of luck..
